Cookie Policy

How Explore Moor uses cookies, consent, and embedded content.

This Cookie Policy is written in plain English to explain how cookies and similar technologies may be used on Explore Moor. It should be reviewed before full commercial launch.

Last updated: May 2026

Explore Moor uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember choices, protect forms, manage consent, and control optional features such as analytics or embedded third-party content.

Some cookies are essential and cannot be switched off through our site. Others, such as analytics, embedded content, marketing, affiliate, or advertising technologies, should only run where you allow them.

Explore Moor is a Moor & More Studio project, created by Millie Carter.

In plain English

Essential cookies keep things working

These support login/session functions where needed, security, forms, cookie choices, and basic site behaviour.

Optional cookies are your choice

Analytics, embedded content, marketing, affiliate, or advertising tools should only run if you allow them.

Embedded content may use third parties

Substack forms, YouTube videos, and future social or support embeds may set cookies or collect data once allowed.

You can change your mind

You can accept, reject, or change optional cookie choices using Cookie Settings.

We do not want creepy tracking

We do not want to use cookies to sell your data, follow you around the internet, or make the site feel invasive.

Understanding cookies

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies can include local storage, pixels, scripts, embedded content, and other tools that remember choices or help services work.

Cookies can be useful, but they should not be hidden or confusing.

2. Why Explore Moor may use cookies and similar technologies

Explore Moor may use them to:

  • keep the website working
  • remember cookie choices
  • protect forms from spam or misuse
  • manage contact form behaviour
  • remember preferences
  • understand what content is useful
  • measure basic site performance
  • load optional embedded content when allowed
  • support newsletter signup forms
  • support future videos, support links, payments, affiliate tools, or sponsorship features
  • keep the site secure

Not every item listed here is necessarily active from day one. This policy is intended to cover current and likely future features.

Categories of cookies

3. Essential cookies

Essential cookies and similar technologies are needed for the site to work properly.

They may be used for:

  • security
  • form protection
  • remembering cookie choices
  • maintaining basic session behaviour
  • preventing abuse or spam
  • basic site functionality
  • consent management

These cannot be switched off through our cookie settings, although you may be able to block them in your browser. If you block essential cookies, parts of the site may not work properly.

4. Preference cookies

Preference cookies may remember choices such as:

  • cookie preferences
  • display preferences
  • saved settings
  • other optional settings if added later

Where these are not strictly necessary, you can choose whether to allow them.

5. Analytics cookies

Analytics cookies may help us understand:

  • which pages are visited
  • which content is useful
  • where people arrive from
  • broad usage patterns
  • technical issues or performance problems

If analytics are used, they should be privacy-conscious and consent-aware where required. Analytics should not be used to sell personal data or track people creepily across the web.

If analytics are not currently active, this section explains how they may be introduced later.

6. Embedded content cookies

Explore Moor may include or later include embedded content from:

  • Substack
  • YouTube
  • social platforms
  • Patreon or support platforms
  • payment providers
  • maps
  • media players
  • other third-party services

Embedded content can behave as if you visited the third-party website directly. Those services may collect data, set cookies, track interactions, or use their own privacy practices.

Embedded content should not load until you allow embedded content cookies, where required.

7. Substack embeds

Explore Moor Journal is hosted on Substack.

If a Substack signup form or post embed is shown on Explore Moor:

  • it should be blocked until Embedded Content consent is granted
  • Substack may collect information once loaded
  • newsletter signup is handled by Substack
  • Substack has its own privacy policy and terms

If you do not allow embedded content cookies, you can still open Explore Moor Journal directly on Substack using a normal external link.

8. YouTube embeds

Explore Moor may include YouTube videos.

If YouTube videos are embedded:

  • they should be blocked until Embedded Content consent is granted
  • YouTube/Google may collect information once loaded
  • YouTube has its own privacy policy, recommendations, tracking, comments, and account systems

If you do not allow embedded content cookies, you can still open videos directly on YouTube using a normal external link.

9. Marketing, affiliate, sponsorship, and advertising cookies

Explore Moor may later use:

  • affiliate links
  • sponsorship tracking
  • advertising tools
  • campaign tracking
  • support/membership tracking
  • referral links
  • conversion tracking

These tools should only be used where appropriate and, where required, only after you allow the relevant optional cookies.

We do not want marketing tools to make the site feel manipulative, invasive, or untrustworthy.

10. Third-party cookies and services

Some cookies or similar technologies may be set by third-party services, such as:

  • Substack
  • YouTube/Google
  • Facebook/Meta
  • Instagram/Meta
  • analytics providers
  • hosting providers
  • email providers
  • payment/support providers
  • Patreon or membership platforms if added later
  • affiliate or sponsorship services if added later

We do not control every cookie or technology used by third-party services. Their own policies may also apply.

Managing choices

11. How to manage your choices

You can manage optional cookies using Cookie Settings.

Users should be able to:

  • accept all
  • reject non-essential
  • manage preferences
  • change choices later

12. What happens if you reject optional cookies

If users reject optional cookies:

  • the main site should still work
  • essential cookies may still run
  • analytics should not run
  • embedded Substack forms should not load
  • embedded YouTube videos should not load
  • embedded social/support content should not load
  • placeholders should be shown instead where needed

Rejecting optional cookies should not stop you reading normal Explore Moor pages, but some embedded features may be unavailable unless you open them directly on the third-party platform.

13. Browser controls

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through browser settings. If you block essential cookies, parts of the site may not work properly.

14. Domain-specific consent

Cookie choices are stored separately by domain. This means your cookie choice on exploremoor.com may be separate from your choice on narrowandwide.co.uk or moorandmorestudio.co.uk.

This is normal browser behaviour and helps keep consent specific to each site.

Updates and contact

15. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as Explore Moor develops, especially if we add new tools, analytics, embedded content, support options, affiliate tracking, advertising, or other services.

If we make significant changes, we may ask you to review your cookie choices again.

16. Contact

If you have questions about cookies or similar technologies on Explore Moor, please contact us or email hello@narrowandwide.co.uk.
